There is a term Coloniality of Knowledge, which refers to how colonisers and imperialists gave themselves fake authority of knowing and knowledge; and denied the colonised knowledge freedom and freedom to knowledge. In the documentary you can see clearly, how white men have decided which laws are passed and how they are looked upon. Also through this created an understanding through media of who is dangerous and who not — in the case of black men being the drug dealers and criminals more than white men, but not explaining to first of all why it is happening if that truly is the case, as in that black people in US and many other countries are still opressed, enslaved and given less opportunities. So even to this day there are white men who decide who goes to jail more and who doesn’t and this all is masked in the media so that everyone, including the people of colour, believe that this is the case. And then in this way it is possible to exploit the people in jail and also exploit the situation, as in then that mostly only white men are in power with certain small exceptions. It can even be seen with the picture where Obama stands with the presidential interns.

And then it even transfers further to those countries, that never had slaves, but have the assumptions based on the media and what they have heard, that people of colour are worth less, not as smart and dangerous. Like the example of racism in Estonia where there have been almost no people of colour until shortly — people of colour are bullied and looked down at by certain white people. The current structures of power, control, and hegemony have emerged during the modernist era, the era of colonialism — and here in many situations in the movie you can see the power being very “western” or “eurocentric”.
